Weekly POS Reports Retail and F&B Owners Should Review

Focus on sales trends, transactions, margins, inventory, waste, and exceptions—not only the largest revenue number.

Weekly metric summary on the MoovePOS owner dashboard

A complete dashboard can still lead to weak decisions when owners only watch revenue. A weekly review should connect results to causes: transaction count, basket value, pricing, stockouts, discounts, or changing input costs.

Read metrics in pairs

Revenue belongs with transaction count and average ticket. Margin belongs with discounts and purchase-price changes. Stockouts belong with potential lost sales. These pairs keep one strong number from hiding a weakening operation.

Use a fixed review agenda

  • Compare weekly trends with a comparable period, not only yesterday.
  • Review best sellers, slow movers, and frequent stockouts.
  • Check gross margin and changes in item or ingredient cost.
  • Read voids, refunds, discounts, and shift differences as exceptions.
  • For multi-outlet businesses, find branches that deviate from network patterns.

A weekly review should end with an owner, a deadline, and a number to check again. Otherwise the dashboard remains an information screen.
